কোলন মানে আমাদের বৃহদন্ত্র। কোলনের ভিতরের প্রদাহই কোলাইটিস। অর্থাৎ বৃহদন্ত্রের ভিতরে যখন ঘা তৈরি হয়, বৃহদন্ত্র ফুলে যায়, লাল হয়ে যায়, তখন তাকে বলে কোলাইটিস। আমাদের খাবার হজমের পর এই কোলনের মধ্যে দিয়েই পায়ুপথে আসে। এই রাস্তাটাই যদি সংক্রমিত হয়ে থাকে তাতে গুরুতর সমস্যা তৈরি হতে পারে। এটা একটা সমস্যা যেখানে মানুষের শরীরের নিজস্ব প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা নষ্ট হয়ে যায়। আর তা থেকেই বৃহদন্ত্রের ভিতরে জ্বালাভাব বা প্রদাহ তৈরি হয়।
এর আবার দুটো ভাগ। এক, আলসারেটিভ কোলাইটিস। যেখানে, ছোট ছোট আলসার পুরো কোলনকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করে। এটা রেকটাম থেকে শুরু করে পুরো কোলনে ছড়িয়ে থাকে বা কোথাও কোথাও ছড়িয়ে থাকে। এক্ষেত্রে আলসারগুলো বা ঘা গুলো একে অন্যের সঙ্গে আটকে থাকে। দুই, ক্রোনস ডিজিজ। এক্ষেত্রে কোলন ছাড়াও, ক্ষুদ্রান্ত্রের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় এই আলসার ছড়িয়ে থাকে। ঘা বা ক্ষত অনেক গভীর ও বড় হয়। একটার সঙ্গে আরেকটা ছাড়া ছাড়া ভাবে থাকে। খাওয়ার অনিয়মের জন্যই শুধু আলসার হয় তা বলা যায় না। তবে অবশ্যই এটাও একটা কারণ।
দু-বছর থেকে ৮০ বছর বয়স পর্যন্ত যে কোনও মানুষেরই হতে পারে এই সমস্যা। পেট ব্যথা, বারেবারে মলত্যাগ, মলের সঙ্গে রক্ত পড়া, খুব দ্রুত ওজন কমলে বুঝতে হবে কোলাইটিস। এটা মূলত ক্রোনস ডিসিজ়ের ক্ষেত্রে দেখা যায়।
কোলাইটিস ইনফেকশন থেকে হলে কিছুদিন অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক খেলে ঠিক হয়ে যায়। আর আলসারেটিভ কোলাইটিস হলে, তার তীব্রতার উপরে নির্ভর করে কী ওযুধে চিকিৎসা শুরু করব। খুব তীব্র সমস্যা হলে রোগীকে স্টেরয়েড দেওয়া হয় সাময়িক ভাবে ওই প্রদাহকে বাগে আনার জন্য। খুব কম মাত্রায় এই স্টেরয়েড দেওয়া হয়। আর ক্রমে ক্রমে কমানো হয় স্টেরয়েডের মাত্রা। কোনো ওষুধই কাজ না করলে আলসারেটিভ কোলাইটিসে শেষ অস্ত্র হিসেবে অপারেশনকে বেছে নিতে হয়। পুরো কোলন বা বৃহদন্ত্রই কেটে বাদ দেওয়া হয় এক্ষেত্রে।

করোনাভাইরাসের সংক্রমণ ও মোকাবিলার পরিস্থিতি পর্যালোচনায় ফের মুখ্যমন্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে বসছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী। আগামী ২৭ এপ্রিল সোমবার সকাল ১০টায় ভিডিয়ো কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে ওই বৈঠক করবেন তিনি। করোনাভাইরাসের প্রকোপ ছড়িয়ে পড়ার পর এই নিয়ে তৃতীয় বার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে পর্যালোচনায় বসবেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। আগামী ৩ মে দ্বিতীয় দফার লকডাউনের মেয়াদ শেষ হয়ে যাওয়ার পর তা আরও বাড়ানো হবে কি না অথবা উঠে গেলে পরবর্তী পরিস্থিতি কী ভাবে সামলানো হবে, তা নিয়ে ওই বৈঠকে আলোচনা হতে পারে বলে মনে করছেন পর্যবেক্ষকরা। পাশাপাশি ২০ এপ্রিল থেকে যে ক্ষেত্রগুলি ফের চালু হয়েছে, রাজ্যগুলিতে তার পরিস্থিতি এবং মোটের উপর করোনা সংক্রমণ নিয়েও আলোচনা হতে পারে।
দ্বিতীয় দফার লকডাউনের মেয়াদ শেষ হচ্ছে আগামী ৩ মে। ওই দিনই লকডাউনের মেয়াদ শেষ হবে, নাকি তা আরও বাড়ানোর প্রয়োজন রয়েছে, এ সব নিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীদের মতামত জানতে চাইতে পারেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। যেমন ভাবে ১১ এপ্রিল প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে দ্বিতীয় বৈঠকে লকডাউন বাড়ানোর পক্ষে সায় দিয়েছিলেন অনেক মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। আবার লকডাউন যদি আর না বাড়ে, তা হলে কোন পথে এগনো হবে, তা নিয়ে আলোচনার সম্ভাবনাও রয়েছে। সংক্রমিত এলাকা এবং অসংক্রমিত এলাকার জন্য আলাদা পরিকল্পনা হতে পারে বলেও মনে করছেন রাজনৈতিক পর্যবেক্ষকরা।
গত সোমবার থেকে সারা দেশে ‘নন হটস্পট’ অর্থাৎ যে সব এলাকায় করোনার তেমন প্রভাব নেই, তেমন এলাকাগুলিতে লকডাউনের নিয়মকানুন শিথিল হয়েছে। কৃষি, পশুপালন, মাছ চাষ, ছোট শিল্প ও শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাজকর্ম শুরু হয়েছে। তবে সামাজিক দূরত্ব বজায় রেখেই সেই সব কাজকর্ম চালানোর কথা বলা হয়েছে। পরিযায়ী শ্রমিকরা যে যেখানে আটকে পড়েছেন, সেখানেই তাঁদের কাজ দেওয়ার জন্য রাজ্য সরকারগুলিকে নির্দেশিকা পাঠিয়েছিল কেন্দ্র। তার ভিত্তিতে এই সব ক্ষেত্রের কাজকর্ম কতটা চালু হয়েছে এবং সেখানে সামাজিক দূরত্ব মেনে কাজ হচ্ছে কি না, তা নিয়ে আলোচনা হতে পারে বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে।
বুধবারই দেশে করোনা আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা ২০ হাজার ছাড়িয়ে গিয়েছে। মৃতের সংখ্যা সাড়ে ছ’শোরও বেশি। লকডাউনের মধ্যেও মহারাষ্ট্র, গুজরাত, রাজস্থান, উত্তরপ্রদেশের মতো কিছু রাজ্যে সংক্রমণ বৃদ্ধির হার যথেষ্ট উদ্বেগজনক। তবে, অনেক রাজ্যের পরিস্থিতিই ভাল। আক্রান্ত ও মৃতের সংখ্যাও কমে আসছে। আবার সারা দেশেই টেস্ট কিটের অভাবের অভিযোগ উঠেছে। ফলে টেস্টের সংখ্যা কম হচ্ছে বলে অভিযোগ রয়েছে। তবে ২৭ এপ্রিল সারা দেশে সংক্রমণ এবং বৃদ্ধির হারের চিত্রটা আরও কিছুটা স্পষ্ট হবে বলেও মনে করা হচ্ছে। ফলে ওই সময় এই নিয়েও প্রধানমন্ত্রী আলোচনা করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে।
গত ২ এপ্রিল প্রথম বার করোনাভাইরাসের পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। ওই বৈঠকে ৯ জন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী যোগ দিয়েছিলেন। তার মধ্যে ছিলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এর পর দ্বিতীয় বৈঠক হয় ১১ এপ্রিল। সেই বৈঠকে রাজ্যের মুখ্যসচিব রাজীব সিংহ অংশ নিয়েছিলেন।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানিয়েছেন, “এই সময়ে কোনও রাজ্যেই ফসল সংগ্রহ কার্য সম্পূর্ণ হয়ে ওঠে না। তেলঙ্গানার মতো ভারতের অন্য কোন রাজ্য কৃষকদের দ্বারা উত্পাদিত সমস্ত ফসল ক্রয় শুরু করে নি। মহামারীজনিত কারণে সর্বত্রই খাদ্য সম্পর্কে উদ্বেগ দেখা দিয়েছে। তবে আমরা কৃষির গুরুত্ব উপলব্ধি করেছি। ধান ও ভুট্টা ছাড়া জোয়ার, সূর্যমুখী এবং ছোলা ফসলও রয়েছে, তাই এগুলিও কিনে নেওয়া হবে”
রাজ্যে ধান সংগ্রহের বিষয়ে বিশদ বিবরণ দিয়ে তিনি বলেন, “কালেশ্বরমের জল সিদ্ধিপেটে পৌঁছেছে এবং পরবর্তী পর্যায়ে কোন্ডাপোচ্ম্মা সাগরে পোঁছাবে। অনুমান করা হচ্ছে, জুনের মধ্যে প্রকল্পের আওতাধীন সমস্ত অঞ্চল জল পাবে। গ্রীষ্মে, ১.৩৫ কোটি একর ক্ষেত্র সেচ পাবে। তবে রাজ্যে প্রায় দেড় লাখ টন ইউরিয়া এবং অন্যান্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সারের প্রয়োজন”।
সারের ক্রমবর্ধমান চাহিদা নিয়ে মন্ত্রিসভা একটি বৈঠক করেছে এবং পরিস্থিতির আরও উন্নতি কীভাবে করা যায়, তা পর্যালোচনা করে দেখা হচ্ছে। কৃষকদের পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে পরামর্শ দিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমি কৃষকদের কাছে সারের জন্য দোকান না দেওয়ার আবেদন করছি। ৫ ই মে নাগাদ সমস্ত সংগ্রহ কার্য সম্পূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে, তাই আমরা নগদ প্রণোদনা নেব এবং তারপর কেবল সার ক্রয় শুরু করব। আমাদের স্টক রয়েছে এবং কৃষকরা মে মাসে সার কেনা শুরু করতে পারেন। অকারণে ভিড় করার দরকার নেই”।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রয়োজনানুযায়ী, সার সংরক্ষণের জন্য ফাংশন হলগুলিকে গুদামে পরিণত করার জন্য কর্তৃপক্ষকে নির্দেশনাও দিয়েছেন। “অন্তত অন্য এক মাসের জন্য কোনও সামাজিক অনুষ্ঠান হবে না, সুতরাং সার সংরক্ষণের জন্য জায়গাগুলি কাজে লাগানো যেতে পারে”, বলে জানিয়েছেন তিনি।

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday made u turn on the relaxations given to establishment to function in the state and withdrew the relaxations from Mumbai and Pune, which are the worst hit in terms of infected people. Maharashtra has now 5218 Covid-19 cases, whereas Mumbai has now 419 new cases. On Tuesday 19 people died in the state.
The state and Mumbai Municipal corporation on April 17th had allowed E commerce companies, Electrical and electronic supplies, sweet shops, confectionaries, courier services, activity related to agriculture products, restaurants with take away and construction activity where workers would be housed near the construction sites. Tuesday’s revised order means all these relaxations are now revoked.

On Tuesday the Maharashtra government issued an order which said, “ In view of the large number of people commuting, because of the relaxation issued vide order dated 17th April 2020 and also the imminent threat of further spread of the pandemic it is hereby directed in so far as Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Pune Metropolitan Region area is concerned the orders issued on 17th April 2020 shall not apply.”

Facebook has enjoyed unparalleled reach in India for more than a decade. But as China’s fast-growing ByteDance emerges as a formidable competitor in what has become the world’s second largest internet market, the American social media giant has found the horse it wants to bet on in the new decade.
The world’s largest social media company announced today it has invested $5.7 billion for a 9.99% stake in India’s Reliance Jio Platforms, a three-and-a-half-year-old subsidiary of the nation’s most valued firm, Reliance Industries, and the biggest telecom operator in the country with more than 370 million subscribers.
The deal, which valued Jio at a pre-money valuation of $65.95 billion, makes Facebook the largest minority shareholder in the Indian telecom network.
The social giant said the investment marks its “commitment to India”, where it will focus on collaborating with Jio to create “new ways for people and businesses to operate more effectively in the growing digital economy.” This is the largest investment for a minority stake by a technology company anywhere in the world and the largest foreign direct investment in the technology space in India.
One possible collaboration could be, said David Fischer, Chief Revenue Officer at Facebook, and Ajit Mohan, VP and Managing Director of Facebook India, bringing together JioMart, an e-commerce business that is a joint venture between Jio and Reliance Retail (nation’s largest retail chain), with WhatsApp, which counts India as its biggest market with more than 400 million users. It’s also the most popular smartphone app in India. (Facebook’s marquee service reaches about 350 million users in India, it says on its website for brands.)
“We can enable people to connect with businesses, shop and ultimately purchase products in a seamless mobile experience,” they said.
Reliance Jio, which began its commercial operation in the second half of 2016, upended the local telecom market by offering bulk of 4G data and voice calls for six months to users at no charge. The telco kickstarted a price war that forced local network providers Vodafone and Airtel to revise their data plans and mobile tariffs; however, they struggled to match the offerings of Jio, which has become the top telecom operator in the country.
Reliance Jio also owns a suite of services including music streaming service JioSaavn (which it plans to take public), smartphones, broadband business, on-demand live television service JioTV, and payments service JioPay.

“We’re making a financial investment, and more than that, we’re committing to work together on some major projects that will open up commerce opportunities for people across India,” said Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and chief executive of Facebook, in a post.
Mohan told TechCrunch in an interview last year that the company was open to engaging with startups that are building solutions for the Indian market for more investing opportunities. “Wherever we believe there is opportunity beyond the work we do today, we are open to exploring further investment deals,” he said. Though a multi-billion dollar investment comes as a surprise.
But for Facebook, there might be an additional perk in this deal: Mukesh Ambani. India’s richest man is a close ally of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and his firm has consistently supported policy proposals from the ruling government. Just so it happens, Facebook has received more scrutiny than ever in India in recent years under Modi’s government.
In a video message, Ambani said, “At the core of our partnership is the commitment that Mark Zuckerberg and I share for the all-around digital transformation of India and for serving all Indians. Together, our two companies will accelerate India’s digital economy to empower you, enable you, and to enrich you.”
“The synergy between Jio and Facebook will help realise Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ Mission with its two ambitious goals — ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’ – for every single category of Indian people without exception. In the post-Corona era, I am confident of India’s economic recovery and resurgence in the shortest period of time. The partnership will surely make an important contribution to this transformation,” he said in a statement.
Ambani added that JioMart and WhatsApp will enable 30 million neighborhood stores (kirana) to transact digitally “in the near future.” WhatsApp has been working with the Indian government for more than two years to expand its payments service in India — but the project remains stuck in regulatory hurdles.
For more than a decade, the Indian market has been a duopoly between Facebook and Google. Reliance Jio has built consumer-facing services, but very few that compete directly with either of the American giants’ core offerings. But in recent years, ByteDance’s TikTok has won users that all of these companies have struggled to reach. TikTok has amassed more than 250 million users in India (as of last year), and the company says it is on track to add another 100 million this year.
Jayanth Kolla, an analyst with Convergence Catalyst, said TikTok blindsided Facebook and reached users that the American company hadn’t yet. Facebook has, predictably, attempted to build a similar service called Lasso. But it’s currently testing it in limited markets, and India is not one of them.
